not a completely bad product if you dont care about other tents out there that could be much more satisfying. For a two person it had enough room but it is not free standing meaning you need to hammer in the stakes in order for it to set up, the stakes are cheap and would probably bend after being used a couple times, and the fabric isnt all that great either. I didnt actually use it. I returned it because it wasnt ideal for backpacking. If you want to spend money on a tent for 2 buy the big agnes tents. Expensive, but pro status. oh yeah and the poles on the tent were the only nice thing about it. All packed up its about two feet across which would stick out to wide on a pack.

Kelty Gunnison 2 Footprint Review

I just got back from a 3 day trip to the top of Mt Mitchell in NC. It rained the whole time, and temps were in the 40's F. and windy. The footprint is worth it's weight in silver! It worked great! Not a drop of rain got through my Kelty Gunnison 2.1 Tent and the foot print performed wonderfully. It really will save wear-and-tear on your tent. It's light. It fits perfectly. I wouldn't want to go without it.

Sierra Designs Convert 3 Tent Review

Sierra Designs Convert 3 Tent
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We bought this tent for occasional snow trips and for car camping, the latter as it is roomy enough for a queen size air mattress. The first night out in Olympic National Park we were caught in a deluge--rain falling like walruses and whales, not cats and dogs.We successfully set up the tent without getting the interior wet, and stayed dry all night.

There are two air vent snoots near the top of the tent.In addition, the doors on each end have a rain shield, so they can be opened part way.As this four season tent is a single wall design, these features are essential to keeping the inside of the tent from developing condensation, and they work very well.Noseeum netting will still keep the bugs out while you're letting fresh air in.While we haven't exposed the tent to fierce winds, what wind we encountered has been shed smoothly.

The process of setting up the tent differs from that of typical tents. After laying out the tent, the hoop poles are inserted in their sleeves. Then someone must crawl inside the tent with the front-to-aft frame pole, and place the ends in their anchor points while arcing the pole across the ceiling. When taking down the tent, be careful not to pull on the hoop poles--they are shock-corded, and will separate into their sections if you do so.Instead, pull fabric down on the far end section, and then *push* it along to advance the pole outward--it helps to have someone else guide the free end to keep it from going into the mud or the brush.

If you are used to standard backpacking tents, the interior feels immense.Attachment points allow one to hang clothing items, lights, or a mesh storage area inside the tent.Normal sized occupants can sit up comfortably.

My only quibbles are that I find myself fumbling with the door zippers, as there are just too many. And the stuff sack seems rather flabby. But these are very minor concerns. We're quite satisfied with this well-conceived product.

Product Description:
The Bibler Tempest is an ideal shelter for any wilderness traveler or mountaineer, built to outlast howling winds and torrential downpours while its contents ? you! ? stay dry & happy. With plenty of room for two, the Tempest's shape maximizes living space by uniting steep walls with a simple floor design. In fact, it stands nearly 4' tall (1.1m) at the peak. Equipped with two attached vestibules, you'll enjoy a 44sq. ft. floor area! This extra space is NOT at the expense of strength. Four Easton 7075-E9 poles bend naturally into the eaves of the tent and are locked into place with Twistlock Pole Ties, providing a strong, secure framework. Both vestibules are seam-taped and corner pockets are RF welded for maximum water protection. Best of all, every one of these features comes to you at a reasonable price compared to other tents of this caliber.

MSR Mo Room 2P Two-Person Tent Review

MSR Mo Room 2P Two-Person Tent
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a novice camper with two (two person) tents...and they couldn't be any more different. In my experience, a two person tent generally means that two people sleep "head to feet" (meaning two people do not sleep with their heads at the same end). The MSR Mo Room 2p is generous on space, and more tailored for two people that want to sit up and play cards without hitting your head on the top or sides. Two sleeping bags can fit side by side without bumping shoulders, but if you bring anything extra, it will need to sit at your feet or in the vestibule area.I would not consider this an ideal tent for backpacking (as it is not designed for that), however it is plausible if you don't mind the added 3 to 4lbs or just put the poles in your friend's pack.Setting it up was not too bad, but a little more complex than my other two man tent.Once you get everything together the first time and see how it works, its really not that bad.My best advice: As with any new tent, set it up at home first before you leave on your first trip with it. The poles require a lot of flexing to lock down, but this of course is what makes it so sturdy. One thing I would also add, is that the included stakes were much more solid than those flimsy little silver "wannabe stakes" that came with most tents such as my North Face Tephra 22 tent (Which is might add is a cool tent, but really more ideal for just one person.)Because of the quality of the pieces that come in the bag, I am not concerned that this Mo Room 2p is going to "cave" in the middle of the night.

I purchased this tent for $229 from a new vendor (Second Ascent). The item arrived "Brand New" as advertised. The shipping was a little slow, but on time as promised. To summarize, I would consider this a successful purchase at this price point for a two person camping experience that will give you enough room to spread out. It's feasible to take on a two person backpacking trip, but ideal for a solid/reliable base camp tent.

Product Description:
A great choice for weekend camping, long-haul road tripping, family camping, and even the occasional backpacking trek, the three-person MSR Mo Room tent provides an amply livable tent for virtually any occasion. It features dual entrances with 2-way zip doors--each with its own vestibule for gear storage--and excellent ventilation thanks to the kick stand vents on fly and mesh SkyLight ceiling panel. The Bow Frame provides near vertical walls to maximize useable head-and-shoulder space.
Two Dry Entry entrances help to ensure that water won't drip into the tent when door is open for ventilation. The tent's ultralight nylon taffeta reduces weight and sheds water with a polyurethane coating, while the bathtub floor with raised seams helps you stay dry. Beyond spacious, MSR's expedition pole configurations are designed to provide solid protection under snow and wind loads. The Fast Feed pole sleeves and freestanding design make set up fast and easy--even when pitching alone. It includes stuff sacks, stakes, and guyline.

Selecting a Tent
Fortunately, there are all kinds of tents for weekend car campers, Everest expeditions, and everything in-between. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
Expect the Worst
In general, it's wise to choose a tent that's designed to withstand the worst possible conditions you think you'll face. For instance, if you're a summer car camper in a region where weather is predictable, an inexpensive family or all purpose tent will likely do the trick--especially if a vehicle is nearby and you can make a mad dash for safety when bad weather swoops in! If you're a backpacker, alpine climber or bike explorer, or if you like to car camp in all seasons, you'll want to take something designed to handle more adversity.
Three- and Four-Season Tents
For summer, early fall and late spring outings, choose a three-season tent. At minimum, a quality three season tent will have lightweight aluminum poles, a reinforced floor, durable stitching, and a quality rain-fly. Some three-season tents offer more open-air netting and are more specifically designed for summer backpacking and other activities. Many premium tents will feature pre-sealed, taped seams and a silicone-impregnated rain-fly for enhanced waterproofness.
For winter camping or alpine travel, go with a four season model. Because they typically feature more durable fabric coatings, as well as more poles, four-season tents are designed to handle heavy snowfall and high winds without collapsing. Of course, four-season tents exact a weight penalty of about 10 to 20 percent in trade for their strength and durability. They also tend to be more expensive.
Domes and Tunnels
Tents are broadly categorized into two types, freestanding, which can stand up on their own, and those that must be staked down in order to stand upright. Freestanding tents often incorporate a dome-shaped design, and most four-season tents are constructed this way because a dome leaves no flat spots on the outer surface where snow can collect. Domes are also inherently stronger than any other design. Meanwhile, many three-season models employ a modified dome configuration called a tunnel. These are still freestanding, but they require fewer poles than a dome, use less fabric, and typically have a rectangular floor-plan that offers less storage space than a dome configuration. Many one and two-person tents are not freestanding, but they make up for it by being more lightweight. Because they use fewer poles, they can also be quicker to set up than a dome.
Size Matters
Ask yourself how many people you'd like to fit in your fabric hotel now and in the future. For soloists and minimalists, check out one-person tents. If you're a mega-minimalist, or if you have your eye on doing some big wall climbs, a waterproof-breathable bivy sack is the ticket. Some bivy sacks feature poles and stake points to give you a little more breathing room. Also, if you don't need bug protection and you want to save weight, check out open-air shelters.
Families who plan on car camping in good weather can choose from a wide range of jumbo-sized tents that will accommodate all your little ones with room to spare. A wide range of capacities is also available for three- and four-season backpacking and expedition tents. Remember, though, the bigger the tent you buy, the heavier it will be, although it's easy to break up the tent components among several people in your group. It's also helpful to compare the volume and floor-space measurements of models you're considering.

Sierra Designs Sirius 2 Person Tent Review

Sierra Designs Sirius 2 Person Tent
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had a couple of people in the past ask me about my backpacking tent. It is a fairly light tent (4 lbs) that is easy to setup and take down and is a three season tent. I have been extremely happy with it, it has two doors making it easy for access and with the rain fly has a nice flap on either side to stow muddy boots, cook food without getting rained on or stow any items that you would not want in the tent with you. I am 6ft 2in and fit comfortably in the tent. Purchasing the additional footprint for the tent extends the lifetime and makes it easier to keep clean. I have used it in high wind and it has been very stable. It is small but still roomy enough to sleep one person with equipment or two persons with equipment outside. I also suggest getting a good sleeping pad and sleeping bag since sleeping on the floor is never comfortable and you lose most of your heat through the ground. Happy backpacking!

Nemo Equipment 3-Person Moki Tent Review

Nemo Equipment 3-Person Moki Tent
Average Reviews:

All of my very high expectations were met for this tent. Its quality construction justifies its rather lofty price.

Easy to assembly, very sturdy, excellent weather resistance coupled with good ventilation make this an ideal four season tent.

I was a little skeptical of the Moke Cheeze, but have been impressed. It's worth the additional money for winter camping.

My only complaint would be the folded size and weight, but that has to be expected with a tent this feature-rich and well built.

Product Description:
Designed using NEMO's Extreme Conditions Technology (ECT), the three-person Moki tent is appropriate for both climbing trips in the Himalayas and surf trips to the coast. NEMO designed the tent so that campers can convert half of the Moki's single-wall exterior to mesh and optional insulation, giving you the flexibility and comfort you need in any climate. The optional 10-square-foot vestibule, meanwhile, offers plenty of weatherproof protection of your gear. Add in a linking feature that lets you combine multiple Mokis--creating a large sleeping space that's terrific for group expeditions--and you have an ideal base-camp tent for all your outdoor adventures.

The tent's side doors double as vents for true 4-season versatility.Extreme Conditions Technology
The Moki is outfitted with NEMO's Extreme Conditions Technology, which offers a long list of features designed specifically to combat problems often faced by alpinists. One example is the Moki's condensation curtain, a thin piece of nylon fabric that hangs lightly above your sleeping bag at night. The curtain isolates your respiration in a small portion of the tent rather than letting it disperse throughout, which in turn helps eliminate frost buildup. The tent also offers Pressure Porting, a patent-pending technology that dissipates wind loading on cowling-shaped vents. These small openings along the seam of the vent allow some air to escape when high winds are present, ensuring that your tent will stay well ventilated regardless of conditions. At the same time, an outer flap conceals these openings and prevents rain and snow from entering.
The Moki is also compatible with the Cheez (sold separately), a custom-fitted liner that's designed to increase the interior temperature of the tent a toasty 15 to 20 percent. The Cheez is a breathable, metalized fabric laminate that acts much like a space blanket, reflecting the heat inside to make life below zero a little more inviting. Other details include 43 square feet of sleeping space; large overhead vents designed to increase airflow and reduce condensation; side doors that double as vents for true four-season versatility; a pair of welded polyurethane skylights; an Osmo waterproof/breathable shell; and a three-in-one stuff sack system that makes it easy to divide the load.
The Moki measures 90 by 48 by 75 inches (W x H x D) and weighs a minimum of 7.5 pounds. It's also backed by NEMO's lifetime warranty.
Key Features:

Moki tents link together for group expeditions.
    Sleeps: Three people
    Seasons: Four
Minimum weight: 7.5 pounds (3.4 kg)
Packed weight: 10.3 pounds (4.67 kg)

About NEMO
NEMO Equipment, Inc. is a small company located in southern New Hampshire with a passion for design and innovation. The company was founded in 2002 by Cam Brensinger, who had been working with a joint team at NASA and MIT to design the next generation of spacesuits. Cam is a committed rock and ice climber with a talent for inventing new technology.
After several years of development behind closed doors in their studio in New Hampshire, NEMO unveiled its first line of tents and shelters in 2005. This product line introduced several patent pending technologies including NEMO's AirSupported Technology. AST is a system of low-pressure inflatable ribs and lightweight pumps which replace the aluminum poles traditionally used in tents. These inflatable ribs are stronger than standard aluminum poles, faster and easier to set up, easier to repair, and more compact.
NEMO's bold steps forward in tent and shelter design earned the company much attention and accolades from the start. In 2005, one of their AirSupported tents was named among the 100 best inventions of the year by TIME and Popular Science magazines. That same year, the company also won the highest award for innovation in the outdoor sporting goods industry, the ISPO BrandNew award in Munich, Germany. In each subsequent year since 2005, NEMO has added new technology to its line and continued to refine their designs. NEMO tents have since won awards and recognition from Rock & Ice, Climbing, Backpacker and many other magazines. The company has a strong team of ambassadors, including many elite mountaineers and adventure racers. NEMO tents have been to every corner of the planet and are used, not only by passionate outdoor adventurers, but also by elite US Special Forces.

MSR Mutha Hubba HP 3-Person Tent Review

MSR Mutha Hubba HP 3-Person Tent
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you're willing to sit (or are tall enough you can't ever stand, even in the tallest dome tents, like me) this tent gives as much effective space as almost any 4-person tent out there.Plus, it's very well made, has a good profile for resisting wind and storms, comes from a quality manufacturer you can trust, and is easy to set up and take down.It is light enough to backpack with -- just barely, and if you are a bit of a "pack horse".

My wife and I use this with our 2-year-old daughter primarily for car camping. We have a *ton* of space. The footprint of this tent is larger than a queen size bed.If you're considering using this mostly for car camping, I recommend the LL Bean semi-rectangular synthetic bags (all semi-rectangular bags zip together since they have a symmetrical shape) and a cheap high density foam or memory-foam mattress topper instead of a traditional Therm-A-Rest style mattress. You will then effectively have a queen size bed *and* tent that you can fit in the trunk of your car with ease.

This tent at Amazon's current pricing beats even the sale prices you'll see around on the old Mutha Hubba (non-HP) model. If Amazon ends the big sale, that won't be so.The older model might actually be nicer if you don't anticipate severe conditions -- it relies more on the rainfly for weatherproofness and so it's a lot airier inside since it has a lot of mosquito mesh where this model has canvas.Still, even on a summer car camping trip there have been days when I was very glad to have the extra rain protection this 'HP' version offered.

Buy the optional footprint but don't try to stretch it tight -- it is slightly undersized and *will* tear if you do so.This tent floor is quite waterproof and does not need edge-to-edge protection from the footprint, which is mostly to keep it from grinding on the dirt and becoming no longer watertight. The footprint is cheap, already cut to the right size and shape, and *much* lighter than one homemade from a tarp.

Product Description:
MSR's lightest, freestanding 3-person tent weighs less than the Mutha Hubba, yet offers greater coverage in the tent canopy for added protection and warmth during unexpected, early-season snowfalls or persistent coastal winds. We've achieved this increased protection with lighter weight by utilizing the latest fabrics and technology to bring the Mutha Hubba HP down to an impressive 6 pounds, 4 ounces. Along with the fast and easy pitching hub and swivel pole design, the Mutha Hubba HP is light enough for two, big enough for three and strong for almost anything you'll find this side of winter.

Ultralight: Technical fabric shaves ounces and provides more protection from snow, sand, and wind.
Livable: Unique pole configuration provides maximum interior space, two doors, and two large vestibules for storing gear.
Quick and Easy Setup: All-in-one hub-and-swivel pole design is strong and simple to use.
Versatile: Can be used as a double-wall tent for full protection or in two freestanding tarp-shelter modes: with optional footprint (sold separately), or just the fly and poles only for the ultimate in weight savings.

Specifications

    Capacity: 3 person
    Floor area: 40 square feet
    Vestibule area: 14 square feet
    Interior peak hight: 46 inches
Minimum weight: 6 pounds, 4 ounces
Packaged weight: 6 pounds, 13 ounces

MSR Footprints
MSR recommends using a water-resistant polyester-taffeta footprint that's designed specifically for this tent to protect its floor from sharp objects, such as rocks and pine needles, as well as from mud and ground water. MSR footprints also increase the versatility of most tents by acting as a ground cloth in lightweight tarp-style setups.

Finally, a one person tent that will actually fit someone that is over 6ft tall!! This tent had ample room, and I'm 6' 3". Easy setup. The weight and size of the tent takes up very little space in your backpack. The only thing that could make this tent better would be to have a little bigger vestibule.

Product Description:
Alps Mountaineering designers created the 3-Season Mystique 1.0 AL 1-Person Tent for those who want to venture out into the wilderness on their own but don?t love sleeping with bugs. Its two-pole design makes it a breeze to set up and the Mystique can function as a freestanding tent but holds its shape better when staked down. An adjustable vent built into the fly adds to the already excellent ventilation provided by mesh panels in the walls and door. Alps Mountaineering designers sealed the fly and floor seams to ensure you don?t end up sleeping in a miniature pond during a storm.

Vaude Power Odyssee 2 Persons Tent, Orange Review

Vaude Power Odyssee 2 Persons Tent, Orange
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The big difference between this tent and most that you can buy in the US is that it pitches fly-sheet-first. So instead of pitching the inner tent and then throwing the fly sheet over it, if needed, you pitch the outer tent and then raise the inner tent inside it.

I have had both types of tent and I have to admit that this is the style for me.

The down side to these tents is that if you want to keep the bugs out then you have to pitch the whole tent, you can't just have the inner. So fair weather campers in California are going to hate this.

The up side to this tent is that you can pitch it without getting your gear and your tent all soaking wet.

In the event that you need to pitch or strike the tent in the wet you can deal with your gear and your inner tent under cover. An anecdote may help: I was walking in the north west of Scotland in early October. As I approached my camping spot near Arisaig the heavens opened. Reaching my site I dropped my pack on the ground, pulled the tent off the top, unrolled it into four parts (pegs, poles, inner and outer). I always roll the groundsheet around the rest, so I had unrolled that on the ground. Without unfolding it I wrapped it over my pack and put the pegs on top. Now all my gear and the non-waterproof part of the tent were under cover. I unfolded the outer over the pile of gear and stuck the poles in. I now had a waterproof enclosure over my gear. I grabbed a few pegs to secure the outer corners and dived inside. I could now take off my rain gear and finish pitching the tent in the dry. In the morning it was still raining, but I was able to get everything except the outer tent packed in the dry before I took it down.

So for me this is the tent to have. If you camp in the majority of this continent, where getting wet during pitching and striking is likely, then you should seriously consider this tent or another with external poles.

As an added benefit, the poles don't run on the outer and the inner doesn't touch the outer, so there's less wear and greater longevity for the outer and the condensation doesn't transfer to the inner in cool weather.

For this specific tent, I find it very good. Build quality is great and there's adequate ventilation. It's not too heavy to carry, though it is a significant item. I recommend it over all the inner-first style tents.

The zipper and some other parts of the hardware are breaking after about 15 uses in 1 year. It has withstood some nasty weather. It is a decent tent for the price but it won't last too long. Most 4 season tent are $400+ this one only cost $150 but is not as good of quality.I guess you get what you pay for.

Kelty Gunnison 3.1 Tent 3-Person 3-Season Review

Kelty Gunnison 3.1 Tent 3-Person 3-Season
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We are a Boy Scout Troop that does a lot of backpacking and camping in the Blue Ridge Mountains of SC and NC. We have some older Kelty tents that have held up great through all of the abuse a group of teenage boys can put out, so we're very pleased with the brand. The features of the Gunnison were the best in the price range. We've had them out a couple of times and are happy with the room, weight and design of the tents. Especially the 2 door design and the large vestibules. We're expecting years of service from them. Will definitely buy again as we need more tents.

Even in the dark, it's easy to secure the aluminum DAC Pressfit poles to the individual clips for set-up, and the Swivel Hub System increases stability and ease of set up. Configured with two doors and two vestibules, the Gunnison 3.1 Tent's floorplan maximizes the available living space. Other features include taped seams to keep water out and internal storage pockets to help organize essentials. Eureka Mountain Pass Tent Review

Eureka Mountain Pass Tent
Average Reviews:

This is the 4th Eureka tent I have purchased in 20 years (I have tents of different sizes - 2 person to 10 person) and they have all been great. This size tent is just right for 2 people, though the 2 vestibles add a little weight and bulk if you are backpacking.I like the layout and the fact that you can roll up the 2 vestibles completely in fair weather.A few days after I received the tent, I used it for a one week trip by myself including one 24 hour period of heavy rain.A few drips came through the fly and screen on the top of the tent, but really only a few over 24 hours - I didn't seam seal the fly, but I suspect that will fix the issue. The only con to this tent is the dark color which I am thinking will make the tent hotter than I would like during the summer in direct sunlight.

Sierra Designs Lightning XT 1 Tent 1-Person 3-Season Review

Sierra Designs Lightning XT 1 Tent 1-Person 3-Season
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had a really hard time finding reviews for this tent online, so I took a gamble and ordered it.I'm doing this to hopefully help someone out like me.To be clear, I never used this tent, just set it up to see how it would accommodate me and my gear.First off, it is very light weight. My friends each ordered the Eureka Backcountry and the Sierra Designs Zolo 1, and this tent was by far the lightest. After taking it out of the bag, I realized that the packed dimensions they advertise are not quite right. The tent and everything included is completely capable of compressing down to the size listed, but the bag they provide could easily fit 3 tents in it.This was a big concern for me since I'm limited on space and everything expands when in the bag. After setting up (a little confusing at first, difficult with just one person if you don't stake it down - again, I only set it up a couple of times), I was pretty satisfied with the look.I'm 5'9" and I fit comfortably in it, but any taller than 6' and you could be uncomfortable, especially since the walls are at such an angle. The design with the two poles sort of cutting off makes it seem like you couldn't hang anything of significant weight (like a large light) from the top without deforming the tent (hanging just the dead weight from my arm deformed it by a good 6 -8 inches on the "weak pole" side and an inch or two on the more solid pole side).I'm going to be backpacking for 2 months across Europe and have no idea what kind of weather and wind I will come across, but I think this would be more than okay for most situations. It is a good looking tent, extremely lightweight, and (can be) compact, and priced very well for the features - but I decided to dish out some extra dough for the MSR Hubba because I knew it would be something I would use for years and really like based on all the reviews and recommendations from friends. If you're small and looking for something relatively inexpensive and light, this should work for you. This is just my two cents, I have no idea how the rainfly holds up, ventilation, and durability are since I never used the tent the way it was intended.

MSR Hubba Tent: 1-Person 3-Season Review

MSR Hubba Tent: 1-Person 3-Season
Average Reviews:

If you want the ultimate in lightweight and versatility, & don't mind the price, then this is the tent for you.I use it for my landscape photography [...]. I've had it two years, and used it about 5 times, 3 in winter. If you don't need the no-seeum net (such as in winter or high elevation), you can set it up with just the rain fly, making it only about 1.5 pounds total. I did this once in winter - the only thing I don't like is the rain fly will have about a 1" to 2" gap between it and the ground, but then it's not a 4-season tent.Just throw some leaves around the sides in winter to block the gap and stop the wind. Another nice feature is it is self-supporting, so to clean it remove the stakes, rotate it with door facing down and shake out the dirt. I also have the MSR footprint for it, and it works very well. Tent is very easy and quick to set up for 1 person.Poles are very sturdy and it comes with one short pole repair piece. I'm 6'1" and it's long enough to place some belongings at the foot end and still stretch out, plus it has plenty of headroom when sitting upright. Overall excellent solo backpacking tent.

Big Agnes Seedhouse 2 - Two Person Tent Review

Big Agnes Seedhouse 2 - Two Person Tent
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this tent at a reasonable price here. I assumed it was the SL version so jumped on the price without thinking. I'm still happy with the non SL version. Not a "pro" hiker so take my comments with a grain of salt =)

very spacious for single person, but seems a bit snug for two unless both are using mummy style sleeping bags. Vestibule was smaller than all photos and review videos appear. Was disappointed there, but still there was plenty of room to stow my pack inside the tent proper without getting in the way of sleep---and I toss and turn. Vestibule held shoes, poles, rope, misc. with plenty of access room in and out. Had the pack stayed outside, I would be worried it would fall over or push through the material.

Rain fly access zipper was awkward to close and open from within the tent. The vestibule angle is a bit steep so it places the zipper closing point at an uncomfortable reach from the tent opening. Opening and closing the rain fly door from inside meant I had to plant one hand on the earth to balance myself while reaching with my other hand to zip. This might get a bit of dirt or mud inside if you're not careful.

Poles seems strong enough. I admit that I was a bit paranoid that I might snap one or two during first setup. Poles fit together nicely without much thought on my part. The elastic cord basically pulled the frame together on its own. I just had to make sure the segments were fully secure into each other. Tension was tight once I placed the second pole tip into the tent corner. Also when snapping on the last 2 or 3 top spine clips to connect the tent material to the frame, it really seemed like the spine pole was just a bit too long for everything to reach. After nudging some of the lower tent clips up, everything came together a little easier with minimal pressure. Rain fly went over easy enough. Wish there were instructions, but it's pretty self-explanatory.

Everything folded up without issue and slid into the compression sack smoothly. Entire bag fit base of my backpack and pack straps held it well enough. Seemed to ease left or right over the course of the hike. It was never enough so that the tent bag pulled free of the pack straps, but I would check it every few miles. That could just be my packing though.

Love the tent. Regret the non-SL version, but whatever. I don't do this enough to need the difference. Would suggest the footprint. Seems like there is enough slack in the compression sack to probably fit that too. That also may add more cushion to prevent the sliding that I noted on the backpack.

I hope that helps?
